Portland Cello Project
– Spin magazine
Performances by the talented Portland Cello Project (or PCP as their fans affectionately call them) are unique and eclectic, as likely to mix a Salt-N-Pepa cover with Bach and follow the medley with something by composer Arvo Pärt. One-part rock concert and one-part chamber recital, each performance is a one-time affair, and the ensemble writes almost entirely new arrangements for every performance cycle. Blending classical music with pop culture covers, PCP draws people interested in unique and original experiences, not afraid of shedding labels. A fun evening of live music and surprises awaits everyone looking for an indie chamber music experience. “Known for their lush, immaculately-arranged covers, the band is equally adept at bringing classical compositions to life,” reports blogger Large Hearted Boy.
Support for the Portland Cello Project provided by:
The Stafford Memorial Concert Fund
Annually, one concert honors the memory of Jack Stafford, former manager of the Danville Whirlpool facility. A bequest from the Whirlpool foundation to Centre College helped fund the original Musica da Camera Series. Later, the fund was expanded and continues to enable the Norton Center to offer exceptional performances.
